Knutsen OAS Shipping AS recently held its 2013 Annual Officers’ Conference in Manila last 11-13 March at the First Pacific Leadership Academy in Antipolo. This event was graced by the attendance of Ms. Synnøve Seglem, Vice President of Knutsen OAS. This event also marked the first time Ms. Seglem had visited the Philippines, which made the event all the more special to the audience that comprised more than sixty of Knutsen OAS’s Filipino officers who are being served through Knutsen Philippines, Inc.

Ms. Seglem further delighted the audience with the delivery of her report of the outstanding year that the Knutsen Group of Companies experienced in 2012. Among the most noteworthy achievements she conveyed was the company’s best-ever record of not having incurred any Lost Time due to Injuries (LTI) in its Shuttle Tanker Fleet, while LTI’s on the rest of the fleet have also been at among their lowest on record. This indicates that KOAS operates one of the safest tanker fleets in the world. Ms. Seglem also shared some more good news in other areas of the company; among of which were the very good vetting results garnered in 2012, new long-term charter contracts awarded to the company, fleet expansion plans, streamlining efforts, and other developments that make 2013 and beyond some very exciting years that are worth anticipating.

Ms Seglem was joined by other honoured members of the delegation representing other significant departments within the Knutsen group of companies. Among them were the KOAS HSE & QA Director, Geir Hagen; KOAS Vetting Manager Capt. Hilmar Lund-Andersen; KOAS España Director Vicente Capell, who was also a first-time visitor to the Philippines; Fleet Manager Capt. John Helland; KOAS HR Director Arne Fylkesnes; and Safety and Security Manager Lars Hanøy.

The 2013 KOAS Office Conference was also witness to another important milestone for Knutsen Philippines, Inc., as its outgoing President Capt. Leopoldo T. Arcilla, Sr., formally announced the turnover of the company’s reins to its General Manager Mr. Bryant C. Arcilla, who was then appointed to continue his service in the new capacity of being the company’s President and General Manager. This appointment was formally ratified by a meeting of KPI’s Board of Directors last 08 March 2013. Mr. Arcilla likewise expressed his deep appreciation for the blessing, encouragement, and support of the Knutsen OAS delegation headed by Ms. Seglem in this turnover. In his same speech, Mr. Arcilla assured of further developing of the mutual cooperation and productive collaboration the company enjoys with its seafarers, personnel, and colleagues in their overall goal of faithfully serving the Knutsen group of companies.
